What It’s Like
Water that hasn’t been fished to death
This is the honest pitch: the Andaman Sea is one of the least-pressured game fisheries you can still reach on a normal holiday. Twenty minutes out of Port Blair the bottom drops away into deep blue water, and the pelagics that have been thinned out elsewhere are still here in numbers. You’ll troll lures on the way out, drop jigs over pinnacles and drift baits along drop-offs — and when a reel screams, you’ll understand why anglers keep coming back.
You don’t need to be an expert. The skipper knows the marks, the crew rigs everything and coaches you through the fight, and a total first-timer can land a good fish on their first trip. If you are experienced, bring your own tackle and tell us what you’re chasing — GTs on poppers, a jigged dogtooth, a trolled wahoo — and we’ll match you to a boat and crew that fish that way. We book crewed charters directly with local operators, so you deal with people who actually run these waters.

Good to Know
Game fishing questions, answered
The honest answers we give on WhatsApp every day.
Do I need fishing experience to book a charter?
Not at all. Charters take complete beginners through to seasoned anglers. The skipper and crew rig everything, teach you the techniques and coach you through each fight, so a first-timer can land a serious fish. Experienced anglers are welcome to bring their own tackle and target specific species — just tell us in advance.
What will we actually catch?
It varies with season, tide and luck — that’s honest fishing, and anyone promising guaranteed catches isn’t being straight with you. Realistic targets include yellowfin and dogtooth tuna, barracuda, giant trevally, wahoo, red snapper and grouper, with the occasional sailfish offshore. Many crews practise catch-and-release on billfish and big predators to keep the fishery healthy.
When is the best time to go game fishing in Andaman?
October to May, when the seas are calm enough to head offshore comfortably and the pelagic action is at its best. Charters don’t run in rough monsoon weather (roughly June to September) for safety. Early-morning departures generally fish best, so most trips leave around dawn.
